ATTIC OCEAN
CoastalWith „Coastal“, Attic Ocean open a new chapter. The lead single from their upcoming EP I promise I’ll try everyday is a dreamlike shoegaze piece about longing, letting go and the quiet hope for another time – carried by Hanni’s distinctive voice and the band’s dense, shimmering guitar sound.
The song draws from a personal statement by singer Hanni: the idea of finding someone again in another lifetime – lighter, brighter, free. That tenderness is reflected in the accompanying music video, created in collaboration with Düsseldorf-based stop-motion artist Fabian Rougk. Rougk has been studying painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf since 2022, in the class of Prof. Ellen Gronemeyer, bringing a distinctive visual signature that perfectly complements the song’s ethereal character.
„Coastal“ – like the entire EP – was mastered by Mark Gardener, co-founder of shoegaze pioneers Ride, a collaboration that grew organically from shared shows in 2025.
I promise I’ll try everyday is due mid-2026.

Biography
Attic Ocean are a five-piece shoegaze band from Düsseldorf, Germany, whose music navigates the space between intimacy and immensity – dense, shimmering guitar textures layered beneath the captivating voice of singer Hanni. Founded in late 2019, with roots in the Düsseldorf university scene, the band found its definitive lineup in 2022 and has since established itself as one of the most compelling acts in contemporary European shoegaze.
Drawing on the foundational sounds of Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins and Ride, Attic Ocean blend nineties-rooted nostalgia with modern dream-pop sensibility – always with a distinct emotional immediacy at the centre. Their debut EP the heavy blue and then after (2023) introduced their signature aesthetic: atmospheric guitar layers, melodic vocals and a cinematic sense of space. Their second EP Retriever (2024), mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive, widened their reach considerably, earning them the reputation as Germany’s most internationally-oriented shoegaze act. The music video for „Lilies and Sea“, filmed in Tokyo, has accumulated over 600,000 views on YouTube; a second video for „Glow“, shot in Paris, further underlined the band’s global ambitions.
In spring 2025, Attic Ocean supported shoegaze pioneers Ride on their German tour dates – a collaboration that grew into something more lasting: their forthcoming EP I promise I’ll try everyday was mastered by Ride co-founder Mark Gardener.
Due mid-2026, the new EP is the band’s most personal work to date. Produced once again by Luis Nussbauer, its five tracks move between fragile, intimate moments and wide, driving passages, reflecting on loss, connection and the quiet persistence of hope. The sound has matured: expanded guitar layers push the sonic palette further, while the emotional core remains grounded and direct.
I promise I’ll try everyday is the next chapter for a band that has consistently grown – in sound, in reach and in depth.
